In 1932, Leresche moved the company to Kendal, Cumbria, where Abbeyhorn joined forces with the old horn comb manufacturer Jim Troughton. Leresche will remain at the helm until 1955, when he sells Abbeyhorn to John Barnes. Under the new name "Abbey Horn of Kendal Ltd.", the export market for horn products flourishes.
Horn of the Zeburind for Abbeyhorn Shoe Horn
Abbeyhorn can draw on more than 250 years of tradition and experience. Even today, the shoe horns are handcrafted. After cutting, the horn is shaped over an open fire, hand-polished, and polished with the utmost care. The processing uses the mighty horns of the Zebu cattle from Nigeria.
Each Abbeyhorn shoe horn is unique. The horn gives enough flexibility when putting on shoes - this can prevent damage to the leather in the heel area, as sometimes happens with metal counterparts. By the way, Abbeyhorn shoe horns also feel much more comfortable in the hand than cold metal.
