Ringdal was already familiar with the shoe covers from his grandfather and he wore them both in rainy Norway and later as a student in Paris. Although they kept his shoes perfectly dry in the rain, he often fell victim to jokes about his peculiar-looking footwear.
SWIMS - the modern galosh
In New York, he finally gave up and succumbed to the stylish appearance, ruining many pairs of shoes while they were exposed to the icy winds and pouring rain of the city.
However, the idea of a perfect shoe protection never left him, but his search would prove unsuccessful. Ringdal decided to take matters into his own hands and developed SWIMS - the modern galoshes!
SWIMS Galoshes Protect and Polish Shoes
It follows the old principle of the overshoe, which protects the actual shoe from bad weather conditions. However, Ringdal gave his SWIMS a new exciting design and equipped the inside with a friction-free lining, which guarantees easy putting on and taking off of the galoshes. Pleasant side effect: The leather shoes are polished in the SWIMS.
