Vibram Sole - over 70 years of clear innovation
The Vibram brand sole comes from the Italian traditional company based in Albizzate, a northern Italian municipality in Lombardy, whose owner Vitale Bramani developed the world's first rubber sole in 1936. Characteristic of the name "Vibram" are particularly abrasion-resistant rubber shoe soles, which are produced using Charles Goodyear's vulcanization technology.
Quality, Performance, Safety - Vibram Sole
In 1936, the enthusiastic mountaineer Vitale Bramani survived a tragic mountaineering accident on Punta Rasica, a mountain on the border between Switzerland and Italy, in which six of his comrades died.
At the beginning of the 20th century, it was common practice to switch from heavy, nailed shoes to lighter footwear before starting the ascent. For mountaineering, only climbing shoes made of coiled hemp sole and a thin linen or leather shaft were used. It was precisely this type of footwear that was responsible for the death of Bramani's comrades, as the hemp sole proved to be completely unsuitable when a heavy snowstorm caught the group by surprise.
