Visit nowDuring the manufacture of Goodyear-welted shoes the sole does not get receive greasing agents to increase its smoothness. Why not? Because the leather sole has to be extremely durable and steady. But leather is a natural material and the outsole performs best when saturated. Burgol leather sole protector is created from natural oils and fats and restores the pH balance of vegetable-tanned leather soles.
Our high-quality leather sole protector increases your outsole’s water-repellent properties as well as its flexibility. It preserves the connection between tanning agent and leather, which is indispensable for durable footwear. Furthermore, the leather sole protector cuts friction and abrasion in half, as collagen fibres in the sole connect with the oil molecules. You really can improve the life of your shoe sole with Burgol’s leather shoe protector. Indeed, experts from the German Leather Institute have tested and approved this product’s positive effects.
Generally, ordinary leather oils are made for chrome leather, making them completely inappropriate for leather soles. They will shift the pH value of your shoe sole and destroy the tanning agents – meaning, they actually reduce the lifetime of your shoe. Other oils meanwhile are not stable and can split, raising the acidity and damaging the leather. Burgol leather sole protector is specially formulated to prevent this from happening.
Although our leather sole protector is easy to handle, please bear in mind the notes: Before you use the leather sole protector for the first time, it is better to wear your pair of new shoes for a few weeks – six weeks should be the minimum. Apply the oil with an applicator brush until the leather outsole is saturated.
Make sure leave the area between welt and sole dry, to avoid any damage to the upper. After using the leather sole protector, dry your shoes by laying them sideways on a plastic bag. Use the sole protector once every six months.
Burgol leather sole protector is not the right choice for glued soles, because the oil could damage the adhesive. Do not apply the leather sole protector to the upper and avoid contact with your clothes – these oil spots are extremely difficult to be remove.
Our leather sole protector is available in a 125ml bottle or in a 250ml bottle.
